The wonders of Kindle

I find it absolutely amazing that i have 25 books on my cellphone. I actually have more than that, but i cleared some of them off to make room for new ones. I can select black or white back ground, i can highlight pages and dog ear a few pages. These highlighted and dog-eared pages are easily accessible and navigable. I absolutely love the application and it really is the one i use the most.

It is almost hard to remember a time when all that the phone did was poorly dial a number. You could get them in any color you like, so long as it's black. The operators were terrible and if someone was on the phone on the other end, there was no other option but to call them back another time. Also remember that you had to be next to the phone to receive a call and if you were out and about, you had to use a payphone to return the phone call.

Now my super powerful phone can fit in my pocket. It has no cords, no rotary dialer, and i don't have to talk to an operator. I can read books on it, i can check the weather, i can balance my checkbook and even post on this blog.

This all came about because of competition between private companies. i-Phone and Android compete openly and the only thing that happens is that new applications are made, the phone picture becomes even more crystal clear and the prices are driven lower and lower every day.

It's a beautiful thing.
